Ward 8
Below is a map showing all of the wards in the City of Cambridge. Ward 8 covers most of North Galt.
The Ward 8 Boundaries are as follows: East - Townline Road; North - Pinebush Road; West - Hespeler Road, Dunbar Road, Conestoga Boulevard, Ontario Hydro Corridor (powerlines), Elgin Street; South - Avenue Road, Grandy Lane and Scottfarm Walk.
Christ the King Catholic School, Clemens Mill Public School, Elgin Street Public School, Mother Theresa Catholic School, Saginaw Public School, St Benedict's Catholic High School, and St Margarets Catholic School are all located in the ward. Ward 8 contains numerous parks such as Can Amera Park, Ferguson Homestead, Northview Heights Park, Portugese Swamp Lands, Witmer Park, and the Saginaw Golf Club. Ward 8 is also home to the Cambridge Center Mall which is Cambridge's largest shopping center. Half of the Hespeler Road commercial strip is located in the ward. Cultural centers such as the Polish Club, Portugese Club, and Italien Club are within the boundaries of the ward. Ward 8 also features one of Cambridge's major employment areas known as the LG Lovell Industrial Park.
This ward has experienced a significant amount of commercial, industrial, and residential growth in the city. Some people refer to it as the 'new core'.
Ward 8 has a younger population than other sections of Cambridge. It is also the most ethnically diverse ward in the city. A significant amount of Ward 8 residents commute to their workplaces in the Greater Toronto Area.
